A model built
around their lives
Three integrated phases — training, production, and market linkage — designed for women who cannot leave home, but can change their futures.
Skill Development
Women receive 4–8 weeks of practical, hands-on training in income-generating crafts — including hand-stitching, textile art, and traditional Indian craft techniques. All training is delivered in local languages with accessible, illustrated materials. Beyond craft skills, participants receive foundational digital literacy training, covering WhatsApp for business communication and order coordination. Training takes place in small community groups, so women can support one another and share childcare during sessions.
Home-Based Production
Following training, participants transition into a flexible home-production system. Women create handcrafted items from their homes, working around their caregiving schedules. A piece-rate payment structure rewards productivity while preserving the flexibility essential to caregivers. Production clusters — small neighbourhood groups — allow quality oversight and peer accountability without requiring women to leave their local area. By Week 10, the group collectively produces 50–100 items per week.
Market Linkage
Products reach customers through a layered market strategy. WhatsApp-based commerce provides an immediately accessible, low-barrier sales channel for local orders. Amazon and other e-commerce platforms unlock national and international reach. Seasonal festival demand — a peak period for handcrafted goods in India — drives corporate gifting orders and volume sales. All products are sold under the EmpowerToEarn brand, which communicates both quality craftsmanship and the social impact of every purchase.
